short variation on cinnamon effects
which is weird coming from a person passionate about checking to do lists.
am currently reading My name is Red, by Orhan Pamuk. He dedicates numerous perspectives to the illusion of building your immortality in this world. he also dedicates numerous perspectives to the accidents (if luck is an accident) that do generate immortality, but the most surprising aspect is the funny race between immortality and mortality- which one is the least relative in comparison with the other?
it is an amazing book, filled with stories of a story. fortunately :), so far, my curiosity is far bigger than the fear i would find the end of this amazing work. Maureen Freely stated that the book only misses a Nobel award. well, it doesn`t miss it anymore.
The question i am asking myself now is: isn`t fear of the past defining living in the future?
But anyway, maybe it`s just a Christmas melancholy and sides effects of my cinnamon addiction.

I'm reading that book as well, what page are you at :p ?
It's amazing how readable it is and i kind of regret having changed office because now i don't have 1h20min a day to enjoy Pamuk. This means i'm only reading it once in a while and it'd hate to leave it half read.
It's amazing how much those miniatures meant for the turks (they look quite crappy as i googled for some images) and how big of a moral/philosophical issue was depicting real facts. Has to do with mortality/immortality issue you mentioned in a way. Depict the idea of something vs the actual thing?! Does the idea express timelessness better than the fact? Is the king of france immortal through his portait?
hei
i also feel a bit bad that i have very short moments of delight during the day - 30-40 mins... and then all magic is gone- all is left is just the day to day ordinary.. magic :P
i am on chapter 37 :)- don`t really want to say where in the story i am since you might not be as far with the reading- it`s better that these surprises are discovered by you and you alone.
so far i am totally inlove with the the book and its series of very nicely put paradoxes - like being a good artist is leading one step further to immortality (even if time is an illusion in this world, by simply admitting there is a Creator), and on the other hand, using the art as imitation means competing with the Creator, therefore death. but in the end the whole notion of pride/sin is so thin in the book, that an act can mean both a sin and a prayer.
heh. anyway.. 2 pennies on a series of nice aha moments i had while reading it. definitely a book that i don`t want to end.
